Official Nomination Bio

Five-time NHRA Top Alcohol Dragster world champ Bill Reichert won five straight world championships (2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010) and collected 28 national event wins and 54 divisional/regional victories. The Owosso, MI native began racing as a teenager in a 1964 Pontiac GTO. He scored his first major NHRA victory at Brainerd in 1995. He captured his 28th and final national win at the NHRA Four-Wide Nationals in Charlotte in 2013. Between those two bookends, Reichert collected a trio of wins at the sport's biggest event, the U.S. Nationals, taking home the prized Wally in 2006, 2008, and 2011. He started Reichert Racing Engines in 1984 and it remained in operation until 2021. His son Andy served as his crew chief for many of those triumphs. An indication of how he dominated the Top Alcohol Dragster class is the fact that the longest standing national record in the NHRA is held by Reichert in the Top Alcohol Dragster category with the best elapsed time of 5.103 sec set back in 2007.
