Historian, Author, Artist, Speaker, Broadcaster
The New Jersey native is likely the greatest living NASCAR historian and storyteller, perhaps the best ever. He ran the NASCAR Archives for the better part of a decade before being drafted in 2005 to become NASCAR’s director of statistical services, where he provided stats and anecdotes to broadcast crews and journalists. If you’ve heard a good NASCAR story, chances are McKim had a hand in it. Shortly thereafter he was invited to become the first historian of the NASCAR Hall of Fame, a position he held from 2007 to 2017. His books include The NASCAR Vault (2004) with H.A. Branham and Daytona 24 Hours: The Definitive History of America’s Great Endurance Race with J.J. O’Malley. More recently McKim’s hosted the long-running weekly Legends of Racing Radio Show, offered globally on Facebook Live with more than 300 shows in the vault. McKim is also a celebrated motorsports artist. His work, mainly on NASCAR themes, has appeared at the NASCAR Hall of Fame and MSHFA and in the collections of major racing celebrities.
