What are the benefits of becoming a member of the Motorsports Hall of Fame of America?

You’ll receive our weekly e-newsletter featuring the latest happenings at the MSHFA and insider stories about racing’s greatest names. Plus special discounts on MSHFA events and merchandise, and more. For additional information, please click here.

How can I become a volunteer?

Our volunteers are a vital part of our mission to preserve motorsports history. Download our volunteer application here, or contact our Operations Manager here.

I have motorsports memorabilia items. Would your museum be interested in it?

Donating one item or an entire collection to the Motorsports Hall of Fame of America ensures it will remain intact, be professionally cataloged and preserved, and shared with racing fans all across the world every day. We’re happy to take it all and go through it, piece by piece. And the tax advantages can be substantial. If you’d like to talk further, please click here.

I have motorsports memorabilia items. Can you tell me what they’re worth?

If you’d like accurate, current market information, your best bet is to consult a memorabilia appraiser. Another option is consulting periodicals like Beckett Racing or Die Cast Digest, or a collectors club that specializes in those items.

How do you select inductees for the Motorsports Hall of Fame of America?

By a straight vote among 200 independent voters. About half are inductees themselves, while the remainder are historians, journalists and other motorsports experts from every discipline. For full details, please visit our Induction page.

Who are some of the inductees?

Visit our Inductees page for access to all Motorsports Hall of Fame of America inductees, searchable by name, category and class.

Why are some international stars not in the Motorsports Hall of Fame of America?

Induction is available to American motorsports luminaries who make great achievements nationally and/or abroad. International stars are considered only for their achievements or contributions to American motorsports. For more information, please visit our Nominees page.

Can I nominate someone for induction?

Yes. Please submit a biography of no more than 200 words via mail or here. You can see examples on our Nominees page

Can I contact any inductees?

Most of our living inductees will accept inquires that are forwarded to them by us. Please address your inquiry to the inductee c/o Motorsports Hall of Fame of America, 1801 W. International Speedway Blvd., Daytona Beach, FL 32114.

How can I support the Motorsports Hall of Fame of America through corporate sponsorship or an endowment gift?

Please contact our office manager here.

How do I visit the museum?

Most guests take the tour of Daytona International Speedway, an iconic, historic motorsports venue. Each daily DIS tour concludes with a visit to the Motorsports Hall of Fame of America. Museum-only admission also is available. Please click here for more information.

Are photos and videos permitted inside the museum?

Yes. You may take as many photos and videos as you wish.

How do you obtain your vintage and historic racing vehicles?

Our vehicles come from two sources: via donation or loan.

Are the racing vehicles on exhibit real or replicas?

Most vehicles displayed at the Motorsports Hall of Fame of America are the real deal. When we use a replica, it’s usually because the original no longer exists. And we’re happy to identify which is which.

Is the museum available for private events such as birthday parties, business meetings and social gatherings?

Yes. Please contact our office manager here for more information.

Will I see the reigning DAYTONA 500 champion car?

The DAYTONA 500 champion car exhibit adjoins our space and we’ll be happy to introduce you to it.

What’s the significance of the date on each Hall of Famer’s bronze plaque?

It marks the year they were inducted into the Motorsports Hall of Fame of America. Open Wheel legend Mario Andretti is a member of the Class of 1990, for example.

What does the At Large inductee category mean?

People active in multiple motorsports disciplines are good At Large candidates. Team owner Roger Penske (Class of 1995) is a good example. He has won multiple Sports Car, Stock Car and Open Wheel championships, and has owned racetracks. At Large is also for candidates from outside the main categories.

Are there activities for children?

We don’t have children’s activities, but we welcome kids of all ages. In fact, we get many young visitors each summer. Having your son’s or daughter’s photo taken in our “door car” is a don’t-miss highlight. It’s a real NASCAR Cup Series chassis that kids can sit in just like their heroes.

Why aren’t active or recently retired motorsports participants represented in the Hall of Fame?

To be considered for induction, candidates must have been retired for a minimum of three years or have contributed at the top level of their respective discipline for at least 20 years.

I have a historically significant racing vehicle or collection that I’d be willing to loan or donate to the Hall of Fame. Would you be interested?

Yes. Please contact our operations manager here.
